100 Years Later: How We Have (and Haven't) Prepared for the Next Pandemic

Andrew Pickett, director, Bureau of Public Health Preparedness, PA Department of Health, will focus on the current status of preparedness for outbreaks of epidemic disease. Director Pickett will update us on Pennsylvania’s level of preparedness for handling outbreaks of disease as well as how individuals and families can become better prepared in the event of an emergency, whether it is a natural disaster, technological disaster, epidemic outbreak or other event. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Presentation at 11 AM is in the Science Hall Theater on the Westmoreland County Community College Youngwood campus.

6 PM Presentation is in Commissioners Hall, Room 2303-2304,  WCCC Youngwood campus. 

FREE & Open to the public.

The 1918 influenza pandemic affected the entire world.  A yearlong program will recognize the upcoming 100th anniversary.  Throughout the month of October, there will be a speaker series at the WCCC on topics related to the pandemic, the spread of diseases, and current levels of preparedness in local communities.
