1918 Flu Pandemic Logo.jpgIn Epidemic Diseases, David Wyszomierski, M.D., Excela Health explains how diseases are transmitted, beginning with influenza and progressing through other epidemic diseases. Dr. Wyszomierski discusses means of preventing the spread of disease and current mechanisms used to treat outbreaks of epidemic diseases. A question and answer session will follow the presentation.

Presentation at 11 AM and 6 PM in the Science Hall Theater on the Westmoreland County Community College Youngwood campus.

The 1918 influenza pandemic affected the entire world.  A yearlong program will recognize the upcoming 100th anniversary.  Throughout the month of October, there will be a speaker series at the WCCC on topics related to the pandemic, the spread of diseases, and current levels of preparedness in local communities.
