Celebrate Ground Breaking

Celebrate Ground Breaking

Jan 28th 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

We at the Westmoreland County Historical Society invite you to attend the:

 Celebration of Groundbreaking

for the Westmoreland History Education Center

at Historic Hanna’s Town

Sunday, January 28 at 1 PM.

There will be a brief ceremony followed by refreshments. Please come to the Tavern at Historic Hanna’s Town to be directed to the ceremony. After the ceremony, refreshments will be served during an open house at Hanna’s Tavern and the Museum Shop.

The ceremony and discussion during the open house will provide information regarding the vision for the Education Center, the construction timeline, and the fundraising campaign to build and program the new Center.

This is an exciting time for the WCHS. The Education Center will provide a centralized permanent home for our operations, resources, programs, and activities. It will provide new ways to preserve and teach residents and visitors about the county’s history.

Because this Center has a county-wide mission, the local historical organizations have been invited to participate by signing one of the shovels. The signed shovel(s) will be added to our collection as an artifact.
