New Exhibit: Penn's Woods

Our latest exhibit highlights the regional history of woodworking and carpentry. From the Pennsylvania forests emerged building techniques, tools, trades, and crafts that helped make Westmoreland County what it is today. Explore this history through historic woodworking tools, furnishings, photographs, documents, and stories across centuries. Enjoy this exhibit during the Education Center's open hours on Thursday-Sunday.

Celebrate fall with our upcoming programs!

Join us for fall and Halloween themed programs at Historic Hanna's Town. Enjoy historical demonstrations, children's activities, pumpkin decorating, and reenactments by members of Proctor's Militia, I.B.W.C.P. on Fall Family Day (Saturday, October 30). Or, wait until nightfall when the historic site is lit by flickering candles to learn about 18th century fears and folklore on our Jack-o'-Lantern Tours (Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30).

Guided Tours of Historic Hanna's Town

Learn about life on the western frontier during the Revolutionary War and the roots of American justice at Historic Hanna’s Town. Founded in 1773, Hanna’s Town acted as the first Seat of Westmoreland County and hosted the first English courts west of the Allegheny Mountains. Now a county park and historic site, Hanna’s Town invites you to be a witness to history!

Historic Hanna's Town is open for guided tours Thursday-Sunday starting in June. Reservations recommended. Grounds open all year from dawn to dusk.

Lefevre House Reconstruction

Over the past year, the Lefevre House was carefully taken apart from its original location in Jeannette and reconstructed at Historic Hanna's Town, joining many other reconstructed buildings and structures that interpret early American history.

Enjoy this series of videos documenting the house reconstruction.
