Celebrating 5 Years of Museum Store Sunday

You know about Black Friday, but have you heard of Museum Store Sunday? The Westmoreland History Shop was proud to be one of 1,400 museums around the world offering relaxing, inspired shopping for Museum Store Sunday on November 28.

When you purchase a gift from a museum store, you help to sustain the museum’s service to its community and the public. Our nonprofit Westmoreland History Shop offered 20% off merchandise, including history-inspired books for adults and children, holiday and home décor, stocking stuffers, ornaments, vintage toys and games, jams and jellies, handmade ceramics, jewelry, artwork, and more. Museum Store Sunday offers a chance to highlight the special experience of shopping at a museum store and showcase broad assortments of unique, mission-specific gifts.

Additionally, the day featured special activities like making holiday cards (some of which we donated to local nursing homes) and Scherenschnitte (German paper cutting). Our collections manager, Joanna, even shared some examples of historical Scherenschnitte from our collections. We also celebrated the holidays by decorating a tree in our library.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we hope to see you again next year for another Museum Store Sunday!
