Special performance by 46th Pennsylvania Regiment Band (Logan Guards). Since 1995, this reenacting group from Altoona has brought to life the music of the Civil War. Come hear period music performed on 19th century instruments and learn about the history of regimental bands in the Civil War.
Regimental bands like that of the 46th helped regulate army life, keep soldiers in step while marching, and maintain morale. The Logan Guards, a militia organized in Lewistown, were among the Pennsylvania militia troops to be the first to arrive in Washington, D.C., after the war broke out in 1861. They formed the 46th Pennsylvania Regiment, which recruited from across the state, and participated in campaigns in the Shenandoah Valley.
This outdoor concert will tentatively take place in front of the Lefevre House at Historic Hanna’s Town.
ADMISSION: $5 per person, free for those who come in Civil War period clothing and children 5 and under. Reenactment admission includes concert admission.

Come volunteer at the Westmoreland Historical Society and Historic Hanna’s Town!
We will be having our first volunteer meeting of the year on Wednesday, February 22nd and also on Saturday, February 25th. We will be having two meetings to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules. If you can’t make it Wednesday, come Saturday! Both meetings will begin at 1:00 p.m. in our Education Center.
Volunteers can work with the public by greeting visitors, leading programs and tours, and helping at the gift shop, or can assist behind-the-scenes shelving books in the library, setting up for events, or caring for our gardens. Volunteer hours are flexible and customizable. There are many ways to get involved and help us preserve and share local history.
This is a general meeting for returning and new volunteers to introduce themselves and to plan and discuss the upcoming season at Historic Hanna’s Town, with the intent of setting up later volunteer trainings and orientations for those interested in guided tours, school tours, etc. This will be a point of discussion at this volunteer meeting, and those interested in volunteering with the shop, library, or other opportunities can also call to set up private training.
Volunteering is a great opportunity to share your skills with others – and learn new ones, too. We are open to volunteers of all backgrounds, including but not limited to high school and college students, homeschool students, retirees, teachers, and history enthusiasts.
