September 11 Anniversary Observance

On Saturday, September 11, we remembered the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks with a special observance. Westmoreland Historical Society staff, board members, and volunteers, members of the public, and members of Proctor’s Militia, I.B.W.C.P., gathered at the Fort at Historic Hanna’s Town for a small ceremony.

Captain of the militia, Scott Henry, lowered the flag to half-staff, led the provincials in a “mourn on your arms” pose during a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., to mark when the first plane struck the World Trade Center in New York City.

Emma Delisi volunteered her time and talents to perform “Taps.”
