Historic Hanna’s Town is proud to participate in and be a registration site for the 19th annual March for Parks, coordinated by Westmoreland County Parks and Recreation Citizens Advisory Board.
The March for Parks is a fun event to raise money for new park & trail projects in Westmoreland County. However, due to pandemic precautions, we are not able to host the traditional March for Parks event in 2021. However, marchers (and their dogs!) can still pick a park or trail on Saturday, March 27, have a good time on their own and have a more widespread opportunity to support all 10 of our county parks and 5 trails.
Click the “Register Now” link and follow the process to pre-register. Please select one of the nine locations where you’ll check-in at on March 27. You can also donate online when you pre-register; online donations are made through PayPal.
Visit the March for Parks website and download an informational brochure for full details.
We will have 9 registration locations around Westmoreland County for marchers to check-in with their donations:
- Historic Hanna’s Town (Westmoreland History Education Center at 809 Forbes Trail Road, Greensburg, PA 15601)
- Twin Lakes Park (Activity Center – Lower Lake)
- Northmoreland Park (Activity Center)

Participants who register to visit Historic Hanna’s Town will meet at the Westmoreland History Education Center and be directed from there. From feed sacks to fashion, join us for a fascinating presentation as Louise Baker explores the incredible story of how everyday cotton bags were once used to package flour, sugar, feed, and meal and then transformed into clothing and household items by resourceful homemakers from across America. Discover how this creative reuse began in the early 1920s, a time when practicality and innovation went hand in hand. Whether you’re a history buff, a vintage fashion lover, or just curious about the past, this is a talk you won’t want to miss.
