Submissions are open for our magazine, Westmoreland History, the premier publication for sharing the history of Westmoreland County.

We are seeking articles for all aspects of Westmoreland County’s history, from pre-European settlement through the later part of the 20th century. Articles should contain well researched and documented material, source citations, and be written in a style that is readable and accessible to a broad audience.

Writers should submit articles and queries to us at history@westmorelandhistory.org.

Feature articles should be approximately 2,000 – 4,000 words. Longer articles may be condensed. Westmoreland Historical Society will proofread articles using AP Style recommendations. Selection of articles will be made on the basis of interest and usefulness for our audience and the appropriateness of style. Suggestions regarding illustrations for the submitted article are encouraged and appreciated. Source materials must be identified. Please submit an electronic copy of the article and include biographical information about yourself.

Articles will be accepted at any time, but seasonal articles or articles relating to anniversaries, etc. should be submitted at least six months prior to the desired publication date. The time and manner of publishing an article, if accepted, shall be up to the discretion of the editor and the editorial board.
