Westmoreland Historical Society will celebrate its first Frontier Family Days during Father’s Day weekend, June 14-15. (Frontier Family Days was formally known Frontier Court Days prior to this year.)
Step back in time to when Hanna’s Town served as the seat of government for Westmoreland County! This signature event with a new twist highlights the unique role Hanna’s Town played in Westmoreland County during the American Revolution. Join us for reenactments, along with militia encampments, living history demonstrations and displays, activities for children, and more.
Event highlights include:
NEW EVENT – Peggy’s Time Travel Machine: Bring the kiddos to Hanna’s Town to step into a time travel machine! Learn the story of Peggy Shaw, a preteen, Revolutionary heroine.
Engage in traditional crafts and colonial making.
Dress up in frontier garb!
Take photographs in historic locales.
NEW EVENT- Cut From the Same Cloth Exhibit: Visit the Westmoreland Historical Society’s Education Center to enjoy the newest exhibit highlighting clothing in the permanent collection. Learn how we are all connected by the clothing we produce and wear.
Proctor’s Militia: Interact with reenactors inspired by one of the first militias west of the Alleghenies.
